Was it worth it? Yes. Even though it still feels surreal. We went to visit the house yesterday and even seeing the house empty of all of the previous owner's possessions (except for the fridge and washer and dryer we bought off of him and a couple of gardening utensils in the garage) it still doesn't feel like ours to me.
Have all of the problems and stresses dissolved into nothingness now that it's all over? THOSE problems and stresses, yes. But now there are new, potentially larger problems and stresses! YAY! But we have a house, and that's a huge thing for us. Namely, our lack of our own place was the only serious argument that Cees had against my getting pregnant. He'll still find other excuses, but there's a difference between complaints and valid points. "I want an old muscle car" isn't a valid point against having children. In my book.
Once we're settled and established in the house, I may let Cees stave off procreation for a while longer, but ultimately? He's doomed. Mwahahaha. (plus we agreed to have (HAVE as in it's on the OUTSIDE of the womb fussing and farting, not still incubating) our first before I was 30 and I'm turning 29 at the end of the month, dammit.)
I think my brother's about as ready to become an uncle as Cees is a father - both get the same panicked BOY look on their face when I bring up the subject. Cees groans/complains. Bo gets quiet and withdraws from the conversation. I'm going to assume my father does as well - I've only talked with him on the phone about it. All I'm aware of are the heavy pauses, which I motormouth past. His little girl, the one who used to run to greet him when he came home, wants to have babies and he doesn't know how to respond. Mom, I think, is more than ready to become a grandmother. The fact that both her older sister and younger brother are grandparents might effect her as much as the fact that three of my younger cousins are parents effects me.
So yeah. WE HAZ HOUSE!

Enough said.
